Hi there, thanks for stopping by; it’s nice to meet you! I’d love for you to take a minute to learn a little bit more about me. 👇
Where it all began.
My love for storytelling started in high school yearbook club. I spent sophomore, junior and senior year photographing every sporting event, pep rally, awards ceremony and prom. It’s a good thing my friends got used to my camera being my third arm then, because they don’t even bat an eye when I won’t let them eat until our meals are sufficiently documented.
I studied integrated marketing communications at Ithaca College, where I also took dance and psychology classes, ate a lot of brunch, hike gorges, met some of my best friends, and decided I wanted to work in media.
That is, until my first internship with Whole Kids Foundation in Austin, TX, where I spent a summer writing fundraising event guides for the Whole Foods Market foundation that puts gardens and salad bars in schools. The summer of 2014 included a lot of Torchy’s Tacos, Blues on the Green, coffee shops, and of course, the flagship Whole Foods Market. And before you ask, this Friday’s opening of Buffalo’s WFM has been on my calendar for weeks.
After junior year of college, I stayed in Ithaca to soak in the summer sunshine. Oh, and I also worked as a one-person marketing/PR department for a small gardening retail store and soil manufacturer. Here, I managed social media, wrote blog posts, created graphics and worked trade events. I loved juggling various responsibilities while creating a cohesive brand to share this growing company with a niche community across the country.
My senior year at Ithaca brings to mind the always-wise Pooh Bear, who says, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” And just like that, I was thrown into the real world.
Back to Buffalo.
I loved growing up in Western New York, and like a lot of cool kids these days, I moved back. In my first full time job, I’ve learned a lot about team work, contributing ideas, SEO, SEM, email marketing and asking for help when I need it.
Who are you when I’m not looking?
If you didn’t get the reference, that’s a Blake Shelton song. Not a country music fan? It’s definitely not for everyone. But a Tim McGraw song on the radio with the windows down makes me pretty happy.
Some other non-marketing things I love? Fall, craft breweries (currently working on visiting each one on this list), cranberry walnut bread from my boyfriend’s mom’s bakery, Keuka Lake, Thanksgiving, traveling and finding new coffee shops. Oh, and documenting all of this on Instagram, which is by far my favorite social channel.
If any of this sounds like your cup of tea, I’d love to interview with you. I look forward to meeting you (like, in real life)! 🤝
